Hyderabad Regional Passport Office Honored with National Award for Exemplary Citizen-Friendly Services

NEW DELHI, June 25, 2025 – The Hyderabad Regional Passport Office (RPO) has been conferred with a prestigious national award, recognizing its outstanding commitment to implementing innovative and citizen-centric policies in passport services. The accolade was presented during the esteemed Regional Passport Officers’ Conference held in New Delhi. Minister of State for External Affairs, Smt. Pabitra Margherita, personally handed over the distinguished award to Snehaja Jonnalagadda, the representing officer from the Hyderabad RPO.

This significant recognition underscores the Hyderabad RPO’s pioneering initiatives and people-centric reforms introduced throughout the 2024-25 period. A cornerstone of these efforts is the “Thursday Grievance Redressal” program, which facilitates direct interaction between citizens facing passport-related issues and RPO officials every Thursday, ensuring prompt resolution of concerns. Beyond operational reforms, the Hyderabad RPO has actively focused on enhancing the citizen experience and community engagement.

Notable initiatives include comprehensive cleanliness drives to rejuvenate office premises and the release of a commemorative passport envelope marking the 75th Constitution Day. Additionally, the office launched an enriching Art and Calligraphy Exhibition, inaugurated by the Telangana Governor, which will remain open to the public throughout the year. Further demonstrating its commitment to public welfare, the RPO has spearheaded cyber awareness campaigns, organized medical health camps, maintained robust engagement with the public through social media platforms, and implemented vital rainwater conservation programs.

Operational efficiency remains a core strength of the Hyderabad RPO. The office has achieved a remarkable reduction in pending applications while upholding the highest standards of service delivery. Currently, appointment wait times are impressively brief, ranging from 1-10 days for regular applicants and 1-5 days for Tatkal applicants. Grievances are addressed with notable swiftness, and in alignment with the Passport Seva 2.0 initiative, the office has successfully introduced e-passports, further modernizing its services.

About Hyderabad Regional Passport Office: The Hyderabad Regional Passport Office is dedicated to providing efficient, transparent, and citizen-friendly passport services to the residents of its jurisdiction, continually striving for excellence and innovation in public service.
