Mera Pehla Pyaar is a research-based book on love, romance, and marriage in contemporary India, published through a collaboration between Rediffusion’s Bharat Lab and Lucknow University. Released in July 2025, the book delves into the complex nature of human relationships, drawing insights from diverse fields including sociology, literature, anthropology, and consumer research.

Development and Content

The creation of Mera Pehla Pyaar spanned over 18 months of intensive research. A team comprising nearly two dozen professors and consumer analysts conducted interviews with young couples across India, gathering first-hand narratives about their experiences with love, dating, and marriage. These real-life stories form the core of the book’s content.

To maintain the authenticity and original flavor of these narratives, Mera Pehla Pyaar has been published as a bilingual text, featuring content in both English and Hindi. The book explores various dimensions of love, including , highlighting their significance in personal growth and emotional well-being. It also examines how relationships are evolving in modern Indian society, reflecting shifts in courtship, communication (such as the prevalence of WhatsApp in initiating and concluding romances), and marital dynamics. The book further enriches its narrative by including verses from renowned poets on the theme of love.

Release and Reception

Mera Pehla Pyaar was officially released by Smt. Anandiben Patel, the Hon’ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh, and Prof. Alok K Rai, Director of IIM Calcutta. The book is published by Stature and was edited by Prof. Avanindra Chopra, with assistance from Prof. Keya Pandey and Dr. Ansh Sharma.

The research and analysis presented in Mera Pehla Pyaar have garnered interest from various commercial brands seeking to understand the evolving landscape of “the new Bharat” and its younger generation.
