Awaiting Resolution: Guest Faculty Seek Job Security in Andhra Pradesh
Vizag News Online: In Andhra Pradesh, guest lecturers in degree colleges are hopeful for a positive resolution to their long-standing plea for job security. Despite contributing significantly to higher education, these well qualified educators often lack stable employment and equitable compensation compared to their regular counterparts.
Dr. Kilari Gowri Naidu, a representative of the Andhra Pradesh State Degree Guest Faculty Association, recently paid a courtesy visit to Deputy Chief Minister Konidela Pawan Kalyan in Pithapuram town. During this visit, Gowri Naidu discussed the issues faced by guest lecturers working in Andhra Pradesh state degree colleges.
He requested the Deputy CM to provide job security for guest lecturers and pointed out that despite working very hard on par with regular lecturers, guest lecturers receive significantly lower salaries. He submitted a petition requesting the government’s support to ensure that the department provides a consolidated monthly salary instead of hourly wages. He also asked to facilitate the transfer of guest lecturers to degree colleges with vacant posts when regular lecturers are transferred.
