Vizag City Online : Ganababu, a name synonymous with leadership in Visakhapatnam West, has carved an inspiring journey from a stellar sports career to becoming a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA). PGVR Naidu also known as Ganababu’s initial foray into the spotlight began in 1986 when he captained the Andhra Pradesh team, securing a Gold Medal at the All India National Junior Volleyball Championship (NJVC). He even represented the Indian Volleyball Team in 1990, clinching a Silver Medal at the prestigious PERTH Super Series, and added another Gold at the PUNE National Games in 1992.
The transition from sports to politics is a well-trodden path in our nation, with luminaries like Chetan Chauhan, Navjyot Singh Sidhu, Gautham Gambhir, Mohd Azaruddin, Dilip Tirkey and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore paving the way. In Andhra Pradesh, Gana Babu, also known as PGVR Naidu, stands tall among sports personalities turned successful politicians.
In 1999, Gana Babu entered the political arena as a ZPTC Member from Pendurthi, marking the beginning of his dedicated service to the people. Earning the distinction of being elected MLA twice in Vizag West, he continues to champion the cause of the underprivileged. As the son of the esteemed politician Shri Pethakamsetty Appala Narasimham, who served as both an MLA and VUDA Chairman, Gana Babu inherited a legacy of public service.
