Delhi News Online: Renowned Telugu writer and recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar, Shri Vempalli Gangadhar, has been extended an invitation to participate in the esteemed “Festival of Letters” literary event in New Delhi. Sponsored by the Sahitya Akademi, this illustrious gathering is scheduled to grace the halls of Ravindra Bhavan from March 11th to March 16th, 2024.
Set to take center stage on March 13th, 2024, Gangadhar will enthrall audiences with a reading of his captivating Telugu narrative. The “Festival of Letters” stands tall as the globe’s largest celebration of literature and holds the distinguished title of India’s foremost literary festival. Notably, it proudly embraces diversity, showcasing the voices of women writers, Dalit writers, young talents, authors from the North East, and those from marginalized communities across the nation.
Hailing from the Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh, Gangadhar’s literary talent garnered him the Sahitya Akademi’s Yuva Puraskar in 2011 for his compelling short-story compilation, “Molakala Punnami”. His distinguished accolades include being hosted by the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan from September 8th to September 26th, 2014, following his receipt of the inaugural Yuva Puraskar from the Central Sahitya Akademi.
With a Ph.D. from Sri Venkateswara University to his credit, Gangadhar’s journey includes an impressive repertoire of ten published works. Among his accolades, his work “Mynapu Bommalu,” delving into the lives of sex workers, clinched the prestigious American Telugu Association award. Through his literary endeavors, Gangadhar continues to illuminate the intricacies of society with depth and insight, enriching the literary landscape with his profound narratives.
