CassMae, born Cassandra Mae Spittmann, started her musical journey at a tender age. Despite being visually impaired, her passion for music was evident as she learned African Drumming at the remarkable age of three. Under the influence of Chopin, she eventually transitioned to mastering the piano, showcasing her extraordinary musical talents.
Exploration of Indian Music : While CassMae was introduced to Indian music relatively recently, around five to six years ago, its enchanting melodies inspired her deeply. She immersed herself in this ‘Bhakti’ music world, even learning to play the tabla, demonstrating her dedication to exploring diverse musical traditions.
Rise to Social Media Stardom : Through her Instagram handle, cassmaeofficial, and YouTube channel, cassmae, CassMae has taken Indian social media platforms by storm. Her renditions of various Tamil, and Sanskrit songs, including devotional compositions, have garnered widespread acclaim, showcasing her versatility in singing.
Musical Achievements and Recognition : From early appearances on radio and television to her participation in the TV show Dein Song, Cassandra Mae Spittmann has showcased her talent on various platforms. Her original composition, “The Way I Am,” received recognition at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she earned a scholarship.
Additionally, CassMae’s songwriting talents have been celebrated, winning her the “Berliner Festspiele National Songwriting Contest” in 2015 with “Bullies” and achieving success at the UK Songwriting Contest 2021.
