Hyderabad News Online : A day after Hyderabad Police officials ordered the closure of the non-vegetarian eatery belonging to local vendor and social media sensation ‘Kumari Aunty,’ Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy intervened on Wednesday, instructing the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Urban Development Ministry to revoke their decision.
The Raiduram traffic police in Hyderabad’s Madhapur had shut down her stall on Tuesday to alleviate traffic issues and directed ‘Kumari Aunty’ to relocate to a different place.
‘Kumari Aunty’ rapidly gained social media stardom over the past two months, drawing in a significant young crowd to her food stall near the ITC Kohenur junction in Madhapur. The stall offered an array of non-vegetarian delights, including bagara rice, chicken, mutton curry, liver fry, prawns, fish, and various other items. In response to the closure orders, Kumari Aunty disclosed that she had been cultivating this business for over 13 years. She also shared that her husband was profoundly upset, attributing the closure to the media popularity the stall had attained.
The eatery holds considerable popularity among local food vloggers, YouTubers, food bloggers, and social media influencers, who typically visit the establishment during the afternoon. Following the decision’s revocation, CM Revanth Reddy is expected to visit the eatery in the next few days to boost the confidence of women entrepreneurs like Sai Kumari, the proprietor of the ‘Kumari Aunty’ stall.
