The Journey of Service: Bhumi Reddy Ravikalyan’s Impact through NSS

AP News Online, Mydukuru : Bhumi Reddy Ravikalyan’s commitment to community service has earned him recognition as one of the most dedicated individuals in the National Service Scheme (NSS). Recently, he was honored with the National Service Best NSS Program Officer Award for the year 2023-2024 at Yogi Vemana University (YVU).

This prestigious accolade, awarded during a grand ceremony attended by notable figures such as YVU Vice Chancellor Acharya K. Krishna Reddy, Registrar Dr. Tappeta Ramaprasad Reddy, Principal S. Raghunath Reddy, and NSS Coordinator Dr. Venkatarami Reddy, symbolizes Bhumi’s relentless efforts in promoting social service.

As the NSS Program Officer at Sri Balashiva Yogendra Maharaj Degree College in Maidukuru, Kalyan has been pivotal in nurturing a culture of volunteerism and social service among students and youth. His vision have contributed to YVU’s distinction as the top institution in the NSS framework, among 86 affiliated colleges.

The university boasts 121 NSS units, with Kalyan’s program recognized as one of the five best in the region. Not only did he receive the NSS Program Officer Award, but his student J Mahbub Basha also earned the Best Volunteer Award, a testament to Kalyan’s mentorship.

During the ceremony, the university leaders emphasized the profound impact of NSS in society, particularly in rural areas. They acknowledged that Kalyan’s works reflect the essence of NSS: fostering responsibility among students. Kalyan expressed his heartful gratitude to Principal S. B. Suresh Babu and his staff, crediting them for their support throughout his journey.

Kalyan’s educational background is rich and diverse. He holds a Master’s degree in Telugu and has trained in theater arts, teacher training, and various martial arts, including Karate and Taekwondo. This expertise has enabled him to engage students in meaningful activities that not only enhance their skills but also instill a sense of community responsibility.

Over the years, Kalyan has received numerous accolades for his dedication. His achievements include the Tribal Camp Award in Delhi, the Nandi Golden Accomplishment Award in Hyderabad, and the Gidugu Jatiya Sahitya Puraskar in Vijayawada, among others. Notably, he has been recognized with the Pan India Uttam Upadhyay Award in Guntur and received a certificate of appreciation from the Minister of Health in Andhra Pradesh during an NCC Army training camp.

A true humanitarian, Mr Kalyan has donated blood 23 times, exemplifying his belief in the importance of service. His commitment to blood donation not only underscores his dedication to saving lives but also inspires others to contribute positively to society.

Reflecting on his journey from being an NSS volunteer to becoming an award-winning Program Officer, Kalyan emphasized the collective effort involved in achieving these milestones. He sees his recognition not as an individual success but as a reflection of the commitment of everyone involved in the NSS program at YVU.
